Tanking is used on basement walls and areas where there is a high external build up of soil, where excavation and drainage access is denied. Basically the positive side of the wall, or the side of water penetration and damp, cannot be accessed and repaired through traditional methods. This procedure is used to prevent water from further penetrating through the wall.breakout of salts with a soil build up behind the wall

Tanking Solution Properties

  • high strength rubberised cement coating.

  • excellent adhesion

  • increased bond strength

  • can be applied to damp surfaces

  • can be rendered or painted over.

tanking is used when the wall cannot be accessedThe top photo illustrates a break out of salts due to the high build up of soil behind the wall.

The bottom photo shows the cancerous bricks are removed and are replaced with new ones. A tanking solution (which is similar to a slurry) is applied over the bricks. Tanking creates a barrier, pushing the dampness back to the positive side of the wall.
